Architectural design project to conceal visible facilities
In the heart of Budapest is the KI20 Business Centre, an elegant three-story neo-Renaissance building that has recently been remodeled. The aim was to convert it into a modern office building, while maintaining the historic facade and the grand central staircase.
The interior courtyard of the KI20 Business Centre, covered by a glass roof, included a wall with exposed pipes and cables. In order to hide them and give the space a cozy and elegant atmosphere to match the new design, MádiLáncos Studio chose to create a decorative cladding made of Kriskadecor aluminum links in satin sand.
According to the designers themselves, the Kriskadecor chains were the perfect resource to cover a large surface like the one they had in hand: 6.85 meters wide x 15.40 meters high, a large cascade that, thanks to a custom-made substructure, gives the space three-dimensionality.
