Project with aluminum chains that explores new forms of distribution and equipment in domestic spaces.

“Topography of Housing” is an art installation that is part of the exhibition “Scenarios of a Near Future”, presented during the World Design Capital Valencia 2022 and which continued its tour at Habitat Valencia 2023. This proposal, devised by Arqueha, delves into the possible futures of domestic space, exploring new distribution and equipment formulas that challenge conventional housing structures. The main concept of the installation focuses on flexibility and multifunctionality, seeking solutions that adapt to the changing needs of tomorrow’s homes.

“Housing Topography”: Exploring the future of the home.

The installation stands out for the incorporation of innovative elements such as flexible, soft and removable partitions, which allow us to modify the configuration of the spaces according to the needs of the moment. This approach redefines the way we experience intimacy within the home, especially in the bedroom environment, providing a sense of privacy without resorting to the rigid boundaries of traditional partitions.

In addition, the installation incorporates biodynamic lighting, whose tone and intensity can be adjusted by means of a domotic system, allowing users to modify the ambience according to their preferences and needs throughout the day. This is where our chain curtains come into play, which not only function as aesthetic elements, but also provide functionality and versatility, contributing to the creation of dynamic and personalized environments.

The proposal is part of “Escenarios de un futuro cercano”, an exhibition curated by design journalist Tachy Mora, which reflects on the changes that could transform the domestic environment in the next ten years. Far from approaching these changes from a disruptive or utopian perspective, the exhibition takes as its basis issues that have been on the table for decades, but which are now presented in a social context that is more open to change and flexibility.
