Image adaptation: 1 pixel = 1 link

Our curtains are a blank canvas for interior designers and architects. And, thanks to the numerous innovation processes we have incorporated throughout our history, we have developed new technologies that, today, allow us to offer a wide range of applications: from large monochromatic surfaces to designs that include the reproduction of any type of image or pattern. And we do it by combining colors as if it were a mosaic. We do not paint or print.

What arouses more curiosity is the adaptation of the slender shape of the link to the squarer proportion of the pixel that, at first sight, could make us think of a distorted result of the image. This is where the expert hands of our designers come in, who, through careful adaptation work, get the image back to its original shape and make it completely proportionate. We explain it to you, step by step.

How we do it

1. First of all, we need to know the measurements of the space to be covered and make sure that the image provided is correctly proportioned.

2. Next, we choose the most suitable link: Kriska or Snina. In this case, the density will always be standard. We only recommend using half-drop density in special cases such as a gradient that does not require straight lines.

3. Understanding each pixel of the image as if it were a link of the chain, we will convert the real image into a metallic surface with a given number of chain strips (pixels in width) and links per strip (pixels in height). Our design team retouches each image to “weave” it as accurately as possible.

4. Finally, all that remains is to assign a color from our palette to each pixel/link and voilà: we have the image represented with links. We make it, we hang it, we zoom out and the magic happens. We can see the image perfectly defined.

Technical details

We analyze each image beforehand in order to choose the best method to adapt it. A realistic photograph is not the same as one with flat vector shapes or repetitive patterns. We always look for the best result, either to be as faithful as possible to the original, or to find the best color combinations or to achieve special effects.

The larger the installation, the better resolution the image will get as we can reproduce all the details with the right color. However, if what we are looking for is high definition, we can achieve it with Snina, our smallest link.

In addition, we can include up to 15 different colors per design, allowing us to make color transitions, represent light and shadow and define contrasts with precision.

Use our predefined collections in the Collection catalog and adapt them to your space or create a totally customized atmosphere using the image of your choice. You create the design, we take care of finding the best way to adapt it.
