Odysseus parking lot: Kriskadecor links frame the VIP parking lot
Odiseo, a leisure center located in Murcia, is a building with iconic architecture inspired by the Parthenon in Athens and surrounded by vegetation and water, an oasis in the middle of the city designed by Manuel Clavel. The innovative concept, imported from Las Vegas, has 15,500 m2 distributed over three floors and a subway parking lot.
Starting from the precepts learned from previous experiences (durability, low maintenance and light as a construction material), Clavel Arquitectos ‘ proposal for the Infrared Parking Lot focused on building a lobby for the building: a welcoming experience, a transition for the atmospheres it precedes, a “warming up” parking lot.
For this purpose, we opted for a voluntarily warm, amber, almost infrared lighting that would soften the low-cost scenes that inevitably appear in parking lots (concrete, exposed installations, industrial pavements, exposed foundations), materialized in linear luminaires that represent movement flows and directional chevrons that guide the user.

Supporting this same idea, a metallic chain curtain by Kriskadecor in an intense red color, and conveniently illuminated, wraps around the central area and generates a second parking space within the first, as a VIP area, conveying sensations of quality and distinction. In addition to cladding walls and creating sub-spaces, the 476 m2 of chain also include different voids that generate “access doors” and frame the emergency exits.
The combination of distribution and design strategies turns this interior area into a multipurpose room, capable of occasionally hosting all kinds of events and presentations, thus broadening the functional spectrum of this type of usually underutilized spaces.
