A meeting point reflecting the essence of Berlin with aluminium chains
The newly opened Lobby E of Das Center at Potsdamer Platz, formerly known as the Sony Center, presents a vibrant and welcoming environment for visitors and residents. Designed by Kinzo, its architectural impact goes beyond aesthetics, becoming a social meeting point that fosters a deeper connection to the German capital. It is not just a place to pass through; it reflects of the essence of the city, merging the modernity of the complex with the imposing silhouette of the surrounding skyscrapers.

The design of Lobby E revolves around the idea of “dissolving boundaries,” creating a fluid transition between the urban space and the interior. The walls are clad with Kriskadecor chains that reproduce the silhouette of the neighbouring buildings in intense colours. These blend in naturally with the furniture, giving the space a unique touch full of personality. They also discreetly conceal the technical elements that run along the imposing seven-meter-high walls.

The duality of two connected spaces
One of the main challenges of the design was its complex spatial geometry. To address it, two almost identical spaces were conceived, reflected as if in a mirror, but each with a unique atmosphere. While one is dressed in green tones that evoke freshness and a connection with nature, the other uses warm yellow hues that transmit energy and vitality.
With this duality, Kinzo not only solves the architectural challenge, but also reaffirms its ability to transform architecture into living places where urban culture comes alive.
