Kriskadecor project with a design that reflects the identity and history of Manchester City.
To kick off the 2012/13 season, Manchester City decided to redesign its iconic restaurant, The Mancunian, located inside the Etihad Stadium, aligning itself with the new image of the city of Manchester: modern, elegant and urban. The design was inspired by the essence of the Manchester man, a man who wears neutral colors and, of course, the light blue of his team. The renovation not only sought to modernize the space, but also to capture the unique culture, proud history and loyal fan base that the club has cultivated over the years.
The studio 20.20 Design was in charge of this redesign, and was inspired by one of the most representative songs of the Cityzens to create a warm and intimate atmosphere to welcome the team’s fans. The image reproduction symbolizes the sound waves of the “Blue Moon” anthem, becoming a visual representation of the music that unites Manchester City fans. In addition, the room divider offers a panoramic view of the restaurant, establishing a symbolic connection between the space and the spirit of the sky-blue fans.
To bring this concept to life, up to seven colors from Kriskadecor’s extensive catalog were used, including lilac, blue, gray, turquoise, nickel, gold and silver, all with satin finishes. These colors blend perfectly into the design, reflecting the energy and passion that permeate the ambience of The Mancunian restaurant. In addition, on the ceiling, the lyrics to other iconic club songs are highlighted with a vinyl finish and monochromatic colors, adding a touch of personalization and homage to the Cityzens’ rich musical history.
The redesign of the Mancunian Restaurant not only reinforces Manchester City’s identity, but also creates a unique environment that connects fans to their club in a visual and emotional way. With its innovative use of materials and focus on music as a symbol of unity, the restaurant becomes a place where the passion, history and future of the club meet in perfect harmony.
