Project with aluminium chains that dot the space like shimmering sparkles

Tatiana restaurant, located in New York’s iconic Lincoln Center, is a space where every detail tells a story. A place where the flavors and childhood memories of Chef Kwame Onwuachi come to life, inspired by his beloved sister Tatiana and his Afro-Caribbean roots.

Its deeply personal history is reflected in the design, the result of a collaboration between Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects and Modellus Novus, which pays homage to New York’s diverse communities, especially the San Juan Hill neighbourhood, once a vibrant cultural and social hub. In this environment, tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony, with Kriskadecor chain links playing a key role in capturing the visual essence of the project.

Snina chain curtains in satin brown, embellished with hand-set shimmering gold Kriska elements, dot the space like glittering sparkles that illuminate the restaurant with a warm, enveloping glow. This fusion of two link sizes, a combination never before realized, adds a bold and unique character, as if the light itself is dancing between the chains. More than a place to dine, Tatiana is an immersive experience: an invitation to explore, feel and rediscover the space from multiple perspectives.

Seen in The Architect’s Newspaper

As Jonathan Garnett, Creative Director and founding partner of Modellus Novus, explained in an interview for The Architect’s Newspaper, “We have used Kriskadecor metal chain curtains in several of our projects because we’re inspired by the material’s distinctive ability to achieve varied effects, depending upon its exact application.” In this case, “expanses of floor-to-ceiling glazing with Kriskadecor chain curtains to provide privacy for guests while also preserving the ability to see out to the public spaces beyond. As much as we love the glow of the satin bronze finish, the sound it makes when it sways makes the product all the more multidimensional and surprising.”
