Kriskadecor's kinetic project with wind-responsive aluminum chains
The double kinetic skin of the Oritia & Boreas building, an expert in wind engineering, incorporates the KDO Kinetic System, an innovative architectural solution that uses aluminum chains to respond to the natural movement of the wind, transforming what was once a static structure into a living, constantly moving surface that attracts attention and adds functional value to the facility.
Located in front of a 92 feet wide by 7 feet high window, the system creates an optical illusion of metallic fabric, generating an undulating and hypnotic pattern that responds dynamically to the speed and direction of the wind. This effect is achieved by means of horizontal banding placed at different heights, carefully adapted to the shape and dimensions of the project.
Aluminum chains, customized in satin silver and signal blue (RAL 5005), combine modern aesthetics and practical functionality. Thanks to in-house technology and a dynamic palette of RAL colors tested under sun exposure, this system allows full customization, including the reproduction of patterns, logos and even high-definition images.
Their lightness makes it possible to clad large surfaces without compromising the structural integrity of the building, while the transparency of the links filters sunlight, generating a play of light and shadow that enriches the interior environment. Viewed from the exterior, the chains offer a solid appearance that functions as a visual filter, ensuring privacy. From the interior, they allow full visibility, bringing depth and texture to the space without sacrificing the visual connection with the surroundings.
The sound of the chains is subtle, generating a light, barely audible tinkling sound. Inside, the environment remains quiet and pleasant, without affecting concentration or the working atmosphere.
