Kriskadecor project in a hospitality-inspired workspace.
Located in Chicago’s 303 East Wacker Drive building, Scala is a spec suite designed by Kahler Slater to offer a different kind of office experience, where comfort, connection and well-being carry as much weight as functionality. Inspired by the warmth and sophistication of contemporary Tuscan retreats, the space combines fine materials, enveloping tones and a thoughtful selection of details to create a welcoming and memorable atmosphere.
As part of the interior design, a ceiling installation made of aluminum chains from Kriskadecor was integrated. Composed of suspended layers of soft, curved shapes, the structure helps define the social heart of the office, bringing depth, movement and a visual identity of its own to the space.
The lightness of the chains makes it possible to create organic volumes that seem to float above the common areas, reinforcing the feeling of comfort and favoring a natural transition between the different work areas. In addition to its aesthetic value, the installation contributes to generating a closer and more human atmosphere, in line with the growing trend of designing offices inspired by the world of hospitality.
Design, materials and sense of belonging
The project takes its name from the Italian word scala – staircase or progression – as a symbol of evolution and growth. Warm wood tones, checkered flooring, quartz surfaces, bronze metal details and aged mirrors combine to create an elegant yet accessible environment.
In this context, the Kriskadecor installation acts as a unifying element that brings texture and character to the whole. The result is a workspace that goes beyond the traditional office and demonstrates how design can positively influence the way people interact, collaborate and enjoy their professional environment.
