SPACE project presented at interihotel Barcelona

During the last edition of interihotel Barcelona, the reference fair in interior design and hospitality space design, the results of the SPACE project were presented, an initiative promoted by AMBIT and the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia with the support of ACCIÓ.

SPACE explores the integration of Mixed Reality and Artificial Intelligence in the interior design sector, with the aim of developing and testing spatial computing technologies applied to real cases of habitat and contract. The project has allowed the creation of two technological demonstrations aimed at evaluating their practical application in real environments.

Both experiences were presented at the fair’s Xperience Lab, a space conceived to show how emerging technologies are transforming product and space design processes.

New ways of visualising and designing spaces

The Virtual Layer demo, led by Produktia, allows visitors to visualise products on a real scale using Mixed Reality technology. Using visualisation glasses with spatial positioning, visitors could explore proposals from Kriskadecor, Kave Home, Estiluz and Niessen with a high level of realism, also accessing contextual information about materials, sustainability and technical characteristics. This tool facilitates a dynamic understanding of the product without resorting to traditional catalogues or static renderings.

Generative Cube, developed by Framemov, proposes an immersive environment where Generative Artificial Intelligence can transform an existing hospitality space in real time. The user can modify configurations and equipment by selecting specific products, visualising the proposals in an immersive video projection system that amplifies the sensory impact of each design. This convergence between generative AI and immersive environments opens up new possibilities for creativity, customisation and decision making in interior design.

Kriskadecor’s role

In the case of Kriskadecor, whose model is based on highly customised solutions rather than a standardised catalogue, generative AI represents a particularly valuable tool. Its ability to generate formal, chromatic and compositional variations from defined parameters makes it possible to streamline conceptual phases, expand creative exploration and present multiple proposals without increasing design time and costs. This facilitates the immediate visualisation of comparative scenarios for the internal team as well as for specifiers and clients.

From the manufacturer’s perspective, these technologies also open the door to a more experiential and interactive presence, where the brand is no longer perceived solely as a product supplier but as a creative partner that accompanies architects, interior designers and operators throughout the process, from conceptualisation to the final decision.
