Children’s drawings bring Montblanc to life through aluminum chains

To mark its centennial, Kriskadecor-Sans Amill has launched “100 Years of Inspiring Emotions,” a pop-up exhibition that transforms various iconic spaces in Montblanc through projects created by design and architecture schools.

The installation “Montblanc Through Children’s Eyes”, displayed at “Fet a la Conca”, a local shop showcasing regional products, is one of the interventions that form part of this urban exhibition. Featuring four drawings created by pupils from two local primary schools, the project transforms their visions of Montblanc into colourful aluminum chain artworks that celebrate the town’s identity and imagination.

A celebration of creativity, imagination and local identity

To celebrate Kriskadecor’s centennial, two primary schools in Montblanc received a very special invitation: to imagine and draw what best represents their town. Walls, dragons, landscapes, colors and shapes began to appear on paper through the spontaneous and uninhibited perspective of the youngest members of the community.

From all the drawings submitted, four were selected and reinterpreted using aluminum chains, transforming children’s artwork into large-scale installations. The pieces capture some of the most recognizable elements of Montblanc’s identity. The medieval walls that define the town’s skyline, the legend of Saint George and the dragon, the surrounding landscapes, and an explosion of color that reflects the boundless creativity of childhood.

The wide chromatic range of the chains makes it possible to faithfully reproduce the essence of the original drawings while preserving their freshness, vitality and expressiveness. Each piece retains the personality of its young creator, turning an idea born in the classroom into an experience shared with the wider community.

Beyond a creative exercise, the project creates a connection between generations. If a centenary is an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, it is also a moment to look ahead. And there is no one better placed to imagine the future than children.
