To mark its centenary, Kriskadecor-Sans Amill has launched “100 Years of Inspiring Emotions,” a pop-up exhibition that transforms various iconic spaces in Montblanc through projects created by design and architecture schools.
The installation “Làmpada,” located at the Sant Jordi Arch, is one of the art installations that make up this urban art trail. The project was developed by fourth-year students on the BA in Interior Design at the Ondara School of Art, ESDAPC, as part of the Temporary Installations elective, under the supervision of Gemma Casteràs and David García.
A Light Between the Past and the Present
Inspired by the medieval aesthetic that defines Montblanc’s character, this lighting fixture establishes a dialogue between heritage, craftsmanship, and modernity. Its circular form, constructed from concentric layers of aluminium chains, evokes the ornamental details found in the architecture and decorative objects of the Middle Ages, reinterpreted through a contemporary design language to lend a solid and elegant appearance to the space.
The composition is created through an asymmetrical arrangement of the chains, which lends it density, depth, and visual richness. The colour gradients in shades of orange, apricot, copper, gold, brown, sand, and coffee create a warm atmosphere reminiscent of the reflections of handcrafted metals and the golden light that bathes the town’s historic stones.
Located at the Sant Jordi Arch, the installation establishes a direct connection with one of Montblanc’s most iconic spaces. The monumental architecture frames the piece, while the delicacy of the chains introduces a new layer of interpretation to the space. From a distance, the lamp appears as a sculptural presence; up close, it reveals the precision and lightness of its metal framework.
The proposal thus becomes a tribute to the ability to transform an industrial material into a visual and emotional experience. It is a way to connect Montblanc’s history with the essence of Kriskadecor, demonstrating how texture, movement, and light can breathe new life into heritage.

The installation is part of a tour that winds through various spaces in Montblanc as part of the exhibition “100 Years of Inspiring Emotions.”
You can also visit “Pòrtic” in Sant Miquel Square and see four reproductions of drawings created by elementary school students from two schools in Montblanc, which are on display at “Fet a la Conca”, a local shop showcasing regional products.
And this is just the beginning. Starting in September, the tour will expand to include four new temporary installations that will continue to transform different parts of the town through the use of aluminium chains.
